Field Notes

Description:

Approx. 1.5 to 2 cm in length. It seemed to change color (from orange head and brown body - to dark blue) as I placed it in an open, sunny spot (to photograph it).
Transparent wings.

Habitat:

Asia, subtropical forest

Notes:

Found hiding on a wooden boardwalk handrail during a rainy afternoon.

Carly, unless there is range map information distinguishing the species of Perina, I highly advise against identifying this to species level for the reasons below.
Erebidae, Lymantriinae, Leucomini, Perina sp. I dare not venture further than Perina because The Moths of Borneo site (see link in suggestion) states, "The males are indistinguishable in facies from black males of nuda and those of lodra and psamma." http://www.jpmoth.org/~dmoth/76_Lymantriidae/3242Perina%20nuda/Perina%20nuda.htm Interesting how closely this moth resembles some Cossidae!
Interesting spotting! I guess that the moth has lost most or all of its scales on the hindwing. I never have seen a glasswing moth from this type. Unfortunately I cannot really help you.
