Field Notes

Habitat:

Locally fairly common in shrubby páramo, particularly along quebradas and in rocky areas in the Ecuadorian Andes. Recorded 3.600-4.600 m, but mainly 3.800-4.400 m; occurs on all of Ecuador´s major volcanoes. The species is almost an Ecuadorian endemic.
