Field Notes

Description:

--General Description: Canada geese are large waterbirds; they range from 30-43 inches. Their head and neck are black, separated by a distinctive white chinstrap.

Habitat:

-- Specific Habitat: I observed these Canada Geese at a public Duck Pond in Huntsville, Alabama.
-- General Habitat: Near lakes, rivers, ponds, or other small or large bodies of water; and in yards, park lawns, and farm fields.

Notes:

-- Although the number counted fluctuates quite a bit, I observe Canada geese year-round at this location.
-- In total, I counted 64 Canada geese at the Duck Pond on June 28, 2014.
