Field Notes

Description:

Growing near this other fungi spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/429056030 the discolouration on this mushroom seems more dark brown rather than the reddy-brown I expect from A. rubescens. Possibly due to the lack of moisture in the mushroom and surrounding area since it was hot and dry for the previous few days. Amanita rubescens is edible but reportedly confused with highly poisonous species like Amanita pantherina. A. rubescens is the only similar one that 'blushes', hence the common name

Thanks for the comment CorduneanuVlad
I would sau that this is Amanita Pantherina, because of the darker brown coloring. Plus, one of the Blusher's distinctive marks is that at base of the stem, at the bulb, ti has some reddish coloring (this is why it's called blusher, because it blushes when bruised).
