Description:

I'm so bummed these are the only photos I got of this butterfly! It was way off trail and I couldn't get closer before it flew off :(
This is a Patch/Checkerspot butterfly and is my first encounter of this species.

Habitat:

Chaparral about 1200 ft elevation
