Field Notes

Description:

Moth of the family Geometridae.

A very variable species, with examples ranging from bright yellow through to dark brown, and also variable in size, the wingspan is 20-25 mm.

It occupies a range of habitats, but with a preference for damper areas.

It has one generation, flying from June through to August.

The larvae feed on various low-growing plants such as chickweed, sorrel and other species from the Polygonaceae family.

Habitat:

The species can be found in Europe, North-America and Asia.
