Field Notes

Description:

I was watching this Eagle when it suddenly folded its wings and plunged to the ground in a cloud of dust, to rise seconds later clutching a rabbit. No time to change the camera settings. As it rose it was immediately harassed by several Red Kites, Vultures and Eagles. I think it dropped the rabbit which may have escaped as several birds plunged to the ground again and when the rose none were carrying anything but bits of straw.

Habitat:

Lower slopes of mountain at 1,000 metres ASL.
