Description:
-- Eastern Kingbirds are a type of flycatcher. They are generally 8-9 inches long. Their coloration is grey-black above; white below. The long black tail has a white tip. Often the crown feathers are raised, giving the bird a crested look.
Habitat:
*Specific Habitat: I observed this Eastern Kingbird perched overlooking a Duck Pond in Huntsville, Alabama.
*General Habitat: Eastern Kingbirds breed in open habitats across North America such as yards, fields, pastures, grasslands, or wetlands, and are especially abundant in open places along forest edges or water. Although native to North America, they winter in forests of South America.
Notes:
-- This Eastern Kingbird was perched with a flock of juvenile Barn Swallows at the Duck Pond.
