Field Notes

Description:

Large - like a baseball in diameter, black, shiny thorax
Closest match I can find from the web is a Sydney funnel web.

Notes:

My niece snapped this photo this morning, at our house in New Market TN. I apologize for the slight blur, as the spider would not remain still. She described it as roughly the diameter of a baseball, legs included. This thing looks like a Sydney funnel web, which is disturbing considering we live in Tennessee. Someone please help me identify it!
