Field Notes

Description:

Thanks for the help with IDing this Indigo Bunting. Sadly, it's the only one I saw all summer long - but hopefully will see it again next year!

Habitat:

Spotted on power lines near an uncultivated area next to a mining operation in Kennesaw, GA

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (5)

I would say this is an Indigo Bunting. The beak of the Blue Grosbeak would be more pronounced and, even at this angle, you would expect to see a hint of the rusty color of the wings. Since the wings of the Indigo Bunting are also blue, this strongly suggests a Bunting to me.
