Field Notes

Description:

•They feed on seabed sediment and the epiphytic algae, sponges and small invertebrates it finds there.
•The larvae form part of the zooplankton and drift with the currents.
•The upper surface is hard and is cobered with blunt spines.

Habitat:

Sandy bottoms, coral rubble, seagrass meadows
-I saw these sea stars in Ilha Grande (RJ, Brazil)
