Description:

Maroon to dark brown jelly fungi growing gregariously on a hardwood branch. Fruiting bodies taper to a point to attach to wood.

Exidia recisa is a member of the Auriculariaceae family. It is a saprobic species which is highly common east of the Rocky Mountains of North America.

Habitat:

Growing on a fallen hardwood branch on a pine/mixed hardwood forest trail in Northeast Alabama (Cherokee County), US.
