Band-tailed Pigeon

I see this large pigeon all the time. They eat acorns from the live oaks in my neighborhood and woodlands nearby. During the breeding season, males give the following display. They take off from a tree clapping their wings rapidly. Then they shallowly flap their wings and make a strange buzzing noise while flying in a straight line. I have also been able to observe a pair building a nest and incubating eggs (as in the picture on the right).
