Field Notes

Description:

The western subspecies of the Nashville Warbler. A small passerine bird with a yellow breast and tail, olive green wings, and a grayish head.

Habitat:

Small trees. Spent time in the heavy foliage and on the tips.

Notes:

Feeding on the nectar of this bottlebrush tree. It stuck its entire head into the flower. Since bottlebrushes are originally from Australia I wonder when these birds started drinking the nectar. Is this how evolution starts? No, I don't expect a new species of warbler to show up.
