Thx you Mark and JoeHartman for your ID.
Fun fact! Carpenter bees are so called because they build their nests by burrowing into wood, making long deep tunnels in wooden rafters, fallen trees, and telephone poles, and sometimes causing significant damage to homes. Carpenter bees do not form colonies or hives like honey bees- the females build individual nests in which they lay eggs. Males do not live long enough to need nests. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153357997080603&set=a.10152575329380603.958289.10150120463815603&type=1
