I saw this spider on a low sun flower bush on Mt diablo.

The trick of Argiope is that they hang upside down under the web, very hard for a Mantis to get there. So I think the Mantis will look for some other food animal...
It's plant was right next to the residential plant of the praying Mantis. Won't the Mantis get it?
Nice shot. Back light makes the colours pale.
