Field Notes

Description:

Damselfly with double black wings that, when resting, fold up and appear as a single pair. The male's body is an iridescent bluish-green, almost a neon turquoise color.

Habitat:

Riverine: These were flitting around the edge of the west prong of the Little Pigeon River in Pittman Center, TN, often resting on low-growing vegetation on the riverbank.

Notes:

This one is apparently a male, as the body of females is not as iridescent.
