Description:

duck with speckled breast, large head that is dark on top, light beak and feathers that overhang the sides

Notes:

A lifer for me. Many thanks to Ashley for the quick response. This really was bugging me.

I had checked my field guide, decided the marking on the head wasn't right and thought teal.... emailed a local birder and posted to noah. You beat my local birding buddy!
Mine didn't either, but I felt strongly about Gadwall so I Googled it. I don't know if this is immature or eclipse plumage, but I found a lot of pictures just like it just by Googling Immature Gadwall.
That was on my short list, but my field guide didn't show the half dark head. Thank you!!
