Description:
Velvety pink patches on the leaves of this button bush (Cephalanthus occidentalis) indicates the parasitic invasion of microscopic gall mites.
There are over 900 (!!!) species in this genus, my selection of species is based on the host plant.
Habitat:
Leaves of hosts plants.
Notes:
Spotted on the bank of a wooded detention/retention pond in an office building complex in Kennesaw, GA
