Field Notes

Description:

The name implies that the bird is hidden. But not these. Seen so many out in the open since their arrival. Similar to the Swainson's Thrush, these birds have a reddish tail, even eye ring and buffy flanks. The have a reddish brown back and spots from chin to belly, fading.
Migratory, where they replace the Swainson's Thrush for the winter.

Habitat:

Under bushes, and dense trees.

Notes:

This one landed in right in front of me about 10ft, and in the same tree as a Ruby-crowned Kinglet.
