Brown and green with white looking stuff on some of its body

Habitat:

I need help, does he need to go in a jar?! He is just outside and I don't know what to do?

Okay thanks for the suggestions! I am keeping a close eye on it :)
That species is made to look like bird poo so it doesnt get eaten. It probably is staying very still to stay camoflaged so birds dont try and eat it.
As the caterpillar chose the spot, it is probably best where it is. But do keep an eye on it and take photos of any changes.
