Description:

Also known as African Rock pigeon, this is a large pigeon, roughly the size of European Wood pigeon. It sports rufous back and wings, and wings are speckled with white spots. The rest of the body is blue-grey, with brownish and white-streaked neck. It has a large red patches around the eye.

Habitat:

Common African pigeon, found everywhere south of Sahara. Very common sight in urban environments - such is here, in central Minna, capitol of Niger State of Nigeria.
