on the sidewalk. It's probably going to be suggested as a Brown Anole, but the question is how many different looks can a Brown Anole have!

Yes they have a variety of patterns, though most Browns have white speckles or little lines mixed in. Look for the thick dark line coming up from the back corner of the eye. Of course dewlap in males is the best give away. This one is I think a female though with the diamond or chevron pattern down its back. Then there are ones with a copper reddish head also. Yeah, they're just weird lol. They come in a zillion different appearances. They should be given additions to their names based on "form" pr something like the birds are e.g. "Snow Goose (Blue Form)", so we can specify clearly and quickly.

You may be right in it being a different species. Although the brown anole comes in MANY different patterns, with sexual dimorphism thrown in, there are also A LOT of Anolis species. On the other hand, I found an A. sagrei that looks like your lizard. It's the second picture down on the page. http://fr.academic.ru/dic.nsf/frwiki/111839
