Field Notes

Description:

Pink flowers in prominent calyx. Lobed leaves which appear hairy. Wildflower. there is this globular thing that is sprouting leaves as well as the stalk from which the flowers grow.

Habitat:

Bempton Cliffs, on the Yorkshire coast. Wonderful place to go birdwatching.

Notes:

Photo taken by my sister Dr Sutapa Ray who is hoping to get an ID. I have her permission to post this... please help with ID.

Thanks, Bempton Cliffs is a fantastic place for spotting sea birds. Gannets, Razorbills...and all nesting along the vertical cliffside. I saw Tree sparrows there for the first time too...wasn't on PN at that time (what a pity) so I did not really take too many wildlife shots. My sister doesn't usually ...I think PN is rubbing off on her!
Ah I understand. Nice that she spotted them on a cliff!
Thank you dandoucette, I will tell her...these were growing on the cliffside so closer (safe) approach was not possible.
I think the pink flowers may be a type of Silene. Looks like a few different plants all growing together.
