Despite my ID suggestion, I wish to change the common name and I suspect it should be called a 'masked devil' They are all the same species (Cyclochila australasiae) but yellow Monday is all orange/yellow. The masked devil has a black mask and abdomen and may be green or orange. http://www.flickr.com/photos/22616984@N07/5080324946/ The all green form is the familiar greengrocer and there is a dark brown form too. I saw them emerging last night; the black color comes a day later http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/51126002 Complex? Welcome to biology.
2 X Yellow Monday = Double Drummer ? Nice pic Mac.
amazing image, these guys are like some art project that made colour shifts from wildlife images. Very nice!
This is a color variation of the common greengrocer cicada. Nice.
