Field Notes

Description:

Lily like flower, colored pink or white or lavender or blue. Flowers approx 1 inch across.

Habitat:

Damp sandy soil alongside marsh or warm water lake. Half sun, half shade.

Notes:

Pic with flower bud and leaves included to help in ID.
Insects love to eat both the leaves and flowers.
Flower buds are mallow-like

Lisianthus is the name I know this one by. I am not so sure about it being called a bluebell of any kind...that may be a regional misnomer or a screwy wikipedia thing. I do believe the scientific name is correct though.

Thank you LIsa. The Texas Bluebell doesn't quite fit this flower. I did wonder if this is a Gentian of some kind, but they all have the same shape, same darker throats with yellow stamen/pestal (I'm not up on flower parts) no matter the petal color. It's driving me crazy looking for an ID.

Can anyone tell me what this is? I've done numerous searches and postings trying to find an ID. They are abundant in the areas they grow.
