Field Notes

Description:

40mm tip to leg tip. Pale brown, slender spider with very long legs.

Habitat:

this one was hiding next to my computer although I suspect it may live by watercourses normally

Notes:

(#fishing spider) There is very little on Google image-wise about this Genus apart from Arachne.org and Find a Spider.org. I am not sure my efforts are helping much either. Identification thanks to Mark Ridgeway. Further assistance Robert Whyte and Ron Atkinson

There seems to be a lot of people in the field at the moment. Every time I make a supposedly safe identification someone pats me on the shoulder and points to some recent paper I ought to read, sigh, our luck to be at the front of a wave of science, Can't even fake it!
Nice. Maybe we're making some progress at last with these look-alikes :-)
Robert Whyte answered my email about this one and your id looks good. Nice job
Oh no.. then there were three. These palps are big for a female?
I dont know. The legs on mine are longer and the body marking is a bit different. Could be a male and the one in image a female.
Lol about incorrect identification. I was looking up Neosparassus salacius and found a whole bunch of different spiders and then the one I thought was it came up neosparassus picta in another site. I have to get to bed and then a few days watching over the art show before I can do anything but that has to be untangled some time as well
Oh, there are two of you. That must be confusing :-D I will look into this in a couple of days. Thanks very much for looking into it. I wasn't getting anywhere
"Virtually all internet photos of Australian specimens of a spider labelled as Tibellus tenellus (Family Philodromidae) are now considered to be incorrectly named."
