Field Notes

Description:

Smallish maple tree with palmately-veined, lobed leaves. Lobes are pointed, with three prominent lobes and often two smaller lobes near the base of the blade. Margins bluntly toothed. Petioles are often reddish, as are younger twigs. Leaves are oppositely arranged.

Habitat:

Open spaces. Considered to be a good candidate for suburban landscaping and streets.
