Description:
The Barn Swallows have returned and are making their nests in the carriage shed. They are the only swallows with a deeply forked tail. Underparts creamy-buff, Throat and forehead rusty. Upper parts are dark steel-blue.
Habitat:
Agricultural land, suburban areas, marshes and lake shores.
Notes:
4-6 brown-spotted white eggs in a solid cup of mud (reinforced from the previous year) also reinforced with grass. Lined with feathers and soft plant material. They cover as much as 600 miles a day in quest of food for their young.
