Field Notes

Description:

These Whiskered Terns had chosen a different lagoon to breed on, more a flooded field than a proper lagoon, eggs laid on the bare earth with just a few scraps of reed straw almost floating on water. Perhaps the sun-warmed water keeps the eggs at a constant temperature.

Habitat:

Coastal marshes.
