Field Notes

Description:

It is a medium sized true bug in the family (lygaeidae). It has a red body with a blackish blue spots and a face like impression on the abdomen.

Habitat:

Suburban Fort Worth, Texas. Seen flying at 11:30 am. before landing on some grass.

Notes:

It is distributed throughout North America. It ranges from Central America through Mexico and the Caribbean to southern areas in Canada. This one is an fully grown adult.
