Field Notes

Description:

A larger tiger moth that has black forewings with cream colored stripes along the veins. Red hind-wing with black spots. Abdomen is red with black spots.

Habitat:

Spotted on a sheet hanging on my porch with black lights and halogens shining on it at night to attract moths. We live in a gated lake community surrounded by rural agricultural land, and some wooded areas.
National Moth Week 2017.

Notes:

We have a clover and lettuce garden next to the porch this year, and it has really drawn these in.
