Field Notes

Description:

A winged Stick Insect, small in size around 4 cm but a very good flyer.
Paraorthomeria is part of the Aschiphasmatinae family of Phasmids and most of them are Sprayers, meaning they can spray some chemicals from a pair of glands at the anterior edge of the prothorax. The pungent and putrid smell is used as a defense mechanism to deter their predator from eating them.

Notes:

Seen during day time, it was actively flying.
