Field Notes

Description:

The Fagus Sylvatica 'Asplenifolia', or Cut Leaf European Beech, is a Deciduous Broad Leaf tree. It grows in a deciduous habitat and flourishes in the summer time. It has a "densely pyramidal" form for most of its life. It has carefully dissected leaves that turn a "golden brown" color in the fall and smooth grey bark. This tree also produces beech nuts!

Notes:

This tree is a prominent part of the quads. It welcomes me "home" every day giving me the sense of relaxation and a sense of being home. In the spring my friend and I often climb this tree and spend time under its branches. I sometimes see other kids relaxing under its branches as well. But I find this particular a part of my life. Also my Mom helped identify this tree!
