Field Notes

Description:

Found partial pelvis and vertebrae

Habitat:

In a conifer section of a greater northern hardwood-conifer forest, adjacent to a 15 hectare Adirondack backwoods trout pond in North Hudson, NY.

Notes:

Approx. 15 vertebrae attached to spine. The spinal section was (without a tape measure), to be estimated at 12-14" inches in length. Only a partial skull was located (shown). Skull piece estimated to have been 5-7" long.

Due to the shape of the obturator foramen, curving ilia, and iliopubic eminences, my guess is beaver. Though I don't know if that would fit with your measurements.
