Field Notes

Description:

Please correct me if i am wrong in ID. Distribution is wrong but def looks like female Aglaiocercus berlepschi.
The female is 9.5–11 cm long. The tail is shorter than that of the male but still fairly long and slightly forked. Females have a blue crown and white throat, breast and belly. The male is 22 cm in length with the elongated outer tail-feathers accounting for 14–15 cm. Its plumage is mostly iridescent green. The throat is blue and the outer tail-feathers are violet, becoming blue towards the tips.

This really looks and sounds like the bird I saw, but the distribution is off.

Habitat:

In a small garden in Colonia Tovar, a mountain town in Venezuela, feeding on Bottlebrush flowers. Colonia Tovar is known for their cool climate where peaches and strawberries grow. Foggy and cool.
Even thought it really looks like a Venezuelan Sylph the distribution of this bird does not match where I spotted it.
This is what is being said...
" This species has a very small known range, within which suitable habitat is thought to be severely fragmented. For these reasons it is currently classified as Endangered. However, if further evidence reveals it has a larger range or that habitat fragmentation is not a serious concern then it may warrant downlisting. "

Notes:

It was so quick and me and my camera too slow to get a good in focus session., But still very happy with the evidence.
