Longhorn beetle

Stenopterus is a genus of round-necked longhorn beetles belonging to the family Cerambycidae.

The head and pronotum are black colored and the abdomen has a black background color crossed by white stripes. Antennae and legs are black. The elitra can range from dark red to black.

Larvae are polyphagous in dead branches of deciduous trees (Quercus, Castanea, Robinia, Juglans, Prunus, Salix, Pistacia, etc.) .

The adults grow up to 9–14 millimetres and can be encountered from June through September, completing their life cycle in one or two years. They are very common flower-visitors, and also on deciduous trees. Pistacia, Ceratonia, Ostrya, Carpinus, Ulmus, Robinia, Prunus, Acacia.
