Field Notes

Description:

Heteropoda venatoria Linnaeus, 1767. This spider is a member of the family Sparassidae.

Habitat:

Spotted on the wall inside our house.

Notes:

I went after this spider with a plastic jar, hoping to catch it and let it go in the garden, but it was too fast and I did not get it. So, now we have a lodger. This kind of spider is very common here and I have never heard of anyone being bitten, but it is a pretty big spider and I am hoping that it decides to leave of its own volition.
