Field Notes

Description:

Pollywog phase of a frog or toad. Hope it got a chance to fully metamorphose before the puddle dried up! The little guys spawned here don't stand nearly the same chance as the ones in this nearby spotting:

Habitat:

A mud puddle in the dirt "road" near a small stream that runs down a hill to a creek in my grandmother's pasture. Barely wider than the width of a tire, quickly drying, it was full of tadpoles and pollywogs of various stages (and probably different species.)
