Field Notes

Description:

Grows to 1.5 - 2metres in length. dark steel grey above with yellow or cream bands or rows of spots, cream underside. Toes are equipped with long strong claws used for climbing & the tongue is long & forked.

Habitat:

Eastern Australian forests & coastal tablelands, mainly up large trees. They come down to forage for food, which includes insects, small mammals, reptiles, birds & eggs - they also feed readily on carrion including road kill.
