Field Notes

Description:

This small dark moth had a wing span of about 20 mm. It had a pale triangular patch along the inner margin of the tented-up fore-wings and perhaps a smaller patch nearer the basal part. The labial palps were thin, sharp, sickle-shaped and re-curved. Eyes were dark. Antennae held out. legs were banded.

Habitat:

Spotted resting on a Giant Honey Myrtle (Melaleuca armillaria)

Notes:

This moth looks very much like Leistomorpha brontoscopa
http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/oeco/brontoscopa.html
with some scale-loss or Leistomorpha species.

Need to have this confirmed.
