Black hognose are incredibly common on the east coast
Fascinating to see a Hognose that is so black. I know that melanistic specimens are within the realm of possibility, but it is another thing altogether to actually see one.
You can see the pointed snout in the photo which is diagnostic for hognose. Also, a rat snake that thick would be several feet longer than the snake in the photo is
