Hmmm... could it be the Savannah Sparrow? "“Ipswich” Savannah Sparrows, which breed on islands in maritime Canada and winter along the East Coast, are large and pale gray-brown overall." http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/savannah_sparrow/id
