Field Notes

Description:

Mushroom cap broadly convex about 90mm wide. The colour of the cap was a pale cream with tinges of green. It had a mottled appearance. The edge of the cap appeared to thin out to a transparent rim which appeared wavier in the older mushroom (pics4 &5). A thick stipe was mostly white with a wispy remnant cortina stained brown. In the more mature mushroom the stipe immediately below the cap was a dark brown, as was the cap margin.
Gills were crowded, notched and stained brown. The free edges of the gills were ragged.

Habitat:

Growing in gully by a suburban street.

Notes:

a very interesting mushroom. Would like assistance with an ID. Thanks.

- Cortinarius sp ??
