Description:

The Luciolinae are among the largest subfamilies of fireflies (Lampyridae). They seem to be all "flashing" (as opposed to "continuous-glow") fireflies. They are a diverse lineage, spreading throughout the warm parts of Eurasia into temperate Europe and East Asia and south to the Australian region.

Habitat:

spotted on a remote area in the city (Brgy. Conde Itaas, Batangas City) located on a mountain with a very few human residents.

Notes:

5mm in size.

wow! I was not aware that I am looking at a firefly! It's my first time seeing one up close and personal :)

There are several genera of Luciolinae fireflies on the Philippines. The most likely is Colophotia, but I cannot exclude Luciola (in wide sense), Pyrophanes and Pteroptyx.
