Field Notes

Description:

My lucky bamboo which is sprouting nicely. It's kept as a houseplant in many cultures to bring happiness and prosperity. Despite it's common name, this isn't actually a true bamboo. I normally keep mine inside in the windowsill next to my desk. Took it outside for some photos.

Habitat:

Several of its common names (and it does have many) such as Chinese water bamboo or Belgium evergreen, would indicate it's from those places. This is actually an African species, like a majority of Dracaena.
