Description:

to differentiate it from Amanita pantherina:

- Flesh turns red when damaged (not seen in pictures)
- ring is striate on upper surface (third picture)
- top of volva is indistinct rings of floccose tissue rather than a distinct band (third picture)

It should be noted that A. pantherina does NOT always have a distinct band at top of volva

Habitat:

Under oaks in park
