Description:

purple many petaled bloom. long leaves and woody stem. flower head was maybe the size of a quarter? Centers varied from this darkish yellow to a lighter yellow tone.

Habitat:

west central ga

Notes:

Someone suggested this may be Georgia Aster, I'm not sure, it definitely lives in the oak/pin habitat described on Wiki and has similar woody stems and long leaves. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphyotrichum_georgianum
