Field Notes
Description:
Small (some 20cm in body length) and slender bee-eater, easily distinguished by its black stripped white head (face) and black breast band. It shows blue-green upperparts, and light green breast and belly.
Juveniles (portrayed here), are identified by the absence of long tail streamers. These streamers appears on adult birds, and increase the total length by 10-12 cm - check here, on my previous spotting : http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/225358772
Habitat:
This is an african species of bee-eater, migrating between semi-dry savannahs where it breeds, and moist savannahs where it winters. Here, seen on banks of White Nile in Jebel Aulia; in semi-dry savannah.
Notes:
Gregarious bird.
