Thanks man! Yeah, figured it was insect-related. See them all the time.
I did a quick google search, and i found that its a gall caused by a mite. http://www.thunderbay.ca/Living/Environment/Urban_Forestry/Common_Tree_Concerns/Red_bumps_on_maple_leaves.htm
I see those all the time on a variety of leafs. I've always wondered what it was; I just assumed it was some kind of fungus.
